Why linux is better than Windows
|
|
A friend of mine recently made the switch from Windows to Linux on
his desktop. He'd bought a kickass machine to run huge databases
on. It had an sata disk that only has proprietary drivers; he
installed Oracle, which took him about a week of frustration. But
he enjoyed it all! He sent me an email recently. Here's what he
said:
it is more fun. There are more points of contact, less
streamlined, like the difference between a sanitized city street
and forest, between eating at the bazaar and eating at macdonalds.
Yes, you might get food poisoning, you might get lost. But that is
part of the love affair. Why would you settle for anything less
than absolutely everything?
I love it ;)

Intellectual "property"?

I think that I could turn and live with the animals... Not one of
them is demented with the mania of owning things.

Ah, where is the meaning in life?
|
|
We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has,
of course, powerful muscles, but no personality.
--Albert Einstein
Let's put it this way: if you need to ask a lawyer whether what
you do is "right" or not, you are morally corrupt. Let's not go
there. We don't base our morality on law.
--Linus Torvalds
To make laws that man cannot, and will not obey, serves to bring
all law into contempt.
